Essential to the success of Homecoming Scotland is the creation of a strong and inspiring programme of events and activity taking place in Scotland during 2009 that will engage and motivate Scots at home and visitors from the rest of the UK and overseas to take part in the celebration.
Homecoming Scotland has secured funding from the Scottish Government to assist event organisers with the development and delivery of events and activity during 2009. This funding programme provides event organisers with the opportunity to create new or enhanced events during 2009 that reflect the themes and support the objectives of Homecoming Scotland. Aims, objectives and theme descriptions are detailed in the guidelines.
The programme of events consists of 4 strands: Signature events; Themed events; Rolling events and; Partner events:
Signature Events Programme
A focused number of flagship events commissioned or identified by Homecoming Scotland, taking place on dates spread throughout the year.
A range of major events delivered throughout the year and part-funded by Homecoming Scotland via the Themed Events Programme. This Programme provides a one-off, special funding opportunity for event organisers to access awards of between £5,000 and £50,000 to create or enhance event activity during 2009. Please note that the deadline for funding applications for the Themed Events Programme has now passed.
Homecoming Scotland 2009 will part-fund 10-15 high profile programmes of rolling activity throughout the year and across the country. To be eligible for funding, these programmes must underpin the signature and themed events programmes and contribute to the objectives of Homecoming Scotland.
A programme of events and activity being delivered by partner organisations that complement the aims & objectives of Homecoming Scotland but do not require direct funding support.
