What Is Homecoming?
In 2009 Scotland will sparkle!

A spectacular calendar of events will mark Scotland's first ever Homecoming year. So, whether you're a Scot, of Scottish descent, or simply love Scotland, you're invited!

The festivities will kick off on the 250th birthday of one of Scotland's most famous sons, our national poet, Robert Burns. From Burns night (January 25th) until St Andrews Day (November 30th) you'll be spoilt for choice with a fantastic array of things to see and do.

Fireworks illuminate Edinburgh CastleHelp us celebrate some of Scotland's great contributions to the world: Burns himself, whisky, golf, great minds and innovations and, of course, our rich culture and heritage.

Join the Burns birthday celebration; taste the fruity malty undertones of one of the whiskies found at the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival; applaud some of the world's greatest golfers at the Open Championship, Turnberry; rub shoulders with Real-life Clan Chiefs at Edinburgh's historic Clan Gathering; trace your roots at Scotland's People Centre.
Whatever your interests, you'll be sure to capture a flavour of our passion for Scotland.
